What will be expected of you

• Manage a team of Underwriters responsible for the underwriting decisions on a pipeline of conventional and government loans.
• Oversee pipeline to ensure the success in meeting benchmarks including expected turn times.
• Monitor compliance issues and collaborate with other areas of operations and sales teams to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Monitor quality levels to ensure company quality standards are met.
• Manage the workflow and procedures and participate in developing process improvements and efficiencies.
• Respond to escalations and questions; provide answers and resolutions.
• Identify training and professional development opportunities for the underwriting team.
• Advocate and promote a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
• Assist in resolving post-closing credit issues and defects.

What you will need to possess to guarantee your success…

• Thorough knowledge of agency underwriting standards
• 3+ years of Management experience
• 1 + years of experience managing a team of mortgage loan underwriters
• 5 + years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Knowledge of Conventional (FNMA/ FHLMC), FHA and VA guidelines
• Experience underwriting Texas Bond programs
• Expertise in manual underwriting
• Expertise with complex income documentation
• Experience with Encompass LOS
• Ability to work Central Time Zone hours
