What you can expect from this role

• Perform thorough reviews of loan files to ensure compliance with investor and underwriting requirements.
• Perform manual underwriting to ensure loan credit and property guidelines of secondary market investors.
• Evaluate and provide recommendations for underwriting waivers and eligibility exceptions.
• Maintain strong knowledge of mortgage compliance rules agency underwriting guidelines and industry standards for appraisal requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Provide feedback and input on increasing efficiency and service levels while maintaining risk management parameters.
• Assist the Loan Production teams in questions related to loan qualification.
• Provide guidance to processors by interpreting underwriting guidelines and addressing file-specific questions. 
  

What you will possess to ensure your success

• 3 - 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience within the past 18 months
• DE/SAR required
• Experience in underwriting for secondary market investors for Qualified Mortgages (QM)
• Experience underwriting Non-QM loan products include bank statement only, asset depletion, DSCR and no income investment property is a plus
• Well-versed with the cycle of loan origination and documentation
• Proficiency with automated underwriting platforms and electronic document management systems
• High attention to detail and effective and innovative problem-solving skills
• A keen sense and passion for internal and external customer service
• Ability to explain and communicate ideas and resolutions with clarity and accuracy to team members with varying levels of mortgage lending experience
• Proven ability to handle time sensitive tasks and meeting deadlines
